     Для того чтобы правильно выполнить данное задание, вспомним несколько грамматических правил английского языка:


Оборот there is/there are


     Основные правила:



Используется для обозначения наличия/присутствия какого-либо лица, предмета, явления в определенном месте.


Чаще всего данный оборот ставится в начале предложения, и после него идет подлежащее.


В настоящем времени для обозначения субъектов в единственном числе используется оборот there is, во множественном числе – there are. В прошедшем времени данный оборот имеет формы there was и there were соответственно.





Формы глагола to be в прошедшем времени


     Для выражения прошедшего времени используются две формы глагола to be – was (для единственного числа) и were (для множественного числа). Отрицательные формы выглядят так – was not = wasn`t и were not = weren`t.


     Теперь перейдем непосредственно к выполнению нашего задания:



 Inside the castle there were

 about thirty rooms.


 There was

 an interesting programme on the radio yesterday.


 There weren`t

 any boats on the lake yesterday. It was very cold and windy.


 There was

 some money on my desk this morning, but it isn`t here now. (Нужно помнить, что неисчисляемое существительное «money» в английском языке употребляется в единственном числе)


 We couldn`t dance because there wasn`t

 any music at the party.


 There were

 some new computer magazines at the newsagent`s.
